Meet Malissa Fedele—clinical nutritionist, self-care advocate and founder of Good Day Wellness, a brand that’s focused on nourishing the mind and body through nutrition, mindfulness practices and of course, self-care.
We caught up with Melissa to get her top 5 wellness tips that she incorporates in her day-to-day, to live a life without anxiety and to connect the mind and body in harmony.
1. MAKE JOURNALING A HABIT
Journaling is an easy self-care practice that you can do anywhere, anytime and on your own terms. It’s been shown to improve mental clarity, support the management of stress and anxiety, improve communication and assist with the progress and manifestation of your goals. Whether you like to use journal prompts or free write your feelings and thoughts down on paper, journaling is a simple way to check in with yourself and re-centre.
2. MOVE YOUR BODY DAILY
Daily movement supports the function of a healthy mind and body and will not only keep you physically fit but will also increase levels of endorphins, which boost feelings of happiness! Find what works best for you and for at least 20 minutes a day, spend some time doing a physical activity that you enjoy! When you like what you’re doing, it’s much easier to motivate yourself.
3. GET DAILY SUNSHINE EXPOSURE
Vitamin D is crucial for many different functions in the body including supporting the immune system, mental health, hormone health and maintaining healthy bones. Vitamin D also assists with the absorption of several vitamins and minerals within the body. You only need approximately 15-20 mins a day so make it a priority to get outdoors and soak up the sun—your body will thank you for it!
4. SWEAT IT OUT IN A SAUNA
Sweating it all out on a weekly basis is a great practice for both the mind and body. Using an infrared sauna provides many benefits, offering support to the immune system and muscle recovery. Saunas also relieve joint pain, promote relaxation and mindfulness, and support skin health!
5. DRINK WATER
Seems simple yet this is the one very important point that we all tend to overlook! Staying hydrated will keep your body and mind healthy and allow you to get the most out of life! If getting enough water has become a daily struggle, try making the experience a little more fun and exciting! Get yourself a fancy drink bottle, infuse your water with fruit and herbs or set daily reminders on your phone to stop and have some H2O.
